The world will never give to me
The stability that I require;
It is too much thinking
The next moment is
The fine creation it will sire,
And how it can with like minds
Toward their own good now conspire
Apart from what is best,
The Divine Will.
While I am looking outside
At what I think is such a gift
And have no mind or heart
To look within
To mend the rift,
But rather want the life I find
My precious spirit here to lift
By any means
That can the hours or minutes fill.
Nothing must be our most reasonable expectation,
Poverty the finest attribute to hold,
Purity the mind to find the right intention,
Obedience to keep us nicely in the fold.
